Benefits of an Australian Apprenticeship:

  • While gaining a nationally recognised qualification you continue to earn an income

  • You and your employer get to choose your training provider, your training can be delivered on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both to suit you and your employers needs.

  • You receive both practical and theoretical based training that has been developed specifically for you.

  • Your qualification is competency based, so you may be able to complete it sooner.

  • Your employer may be eligible to receive Australian Government incentives which can be used to cover the cost of your training.

The Australian Government has introduced a number of initiatives to help ease the financial difficulties Australian Apprentices experience in the early years of their Australian Apprenticeship, particularly in trades experiencing a skills shortage. These initiatives provide financial support to Australian Apprentices through the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program.

Australian Apprentices may be eligible for financial assistance through:

  • Tools For Your Trade payment initiative

  • Support for Adult Australian Apprentices payment initiative

  • Living Away From Home Allowance

Australian Apprenticeship Centres are responsible for determining eligibility for  incentives. Other assistance and incentives may be available from your State or Territory Training Authority
